A few days ago I looked out in the garden to see three pigeons and two doves sunning themselves in the cherry tree. All the food I had put out on the step had gone, and I wondered why these birds were not elsewhere searching for more food. Then I realised – they weren’t hungry. So they just sat there in the tree and soaked up the winter sun doing absolutely nothing.
Could five lazy birds provide a picture of the church? Not hungry. Happy to sit and soak, but not to search or feed?
