Did you know that if you are a Christian you are free. Free to love, free to show compassion, free to be fruitful, free to preach, free to be yourself. Free to choose others over yourself, free to give. Free to live life, and life to the full.
But you are also free to sin, free to choose your own way, free to hate. Free to value yourself over others, to be selfish free to oppress, abuse and kill.
Galatians 5:1 ‘It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.’
Consider the options you have – you are free to do anything you want and live how you like. Christ allows this. But there is a caveat – one choice will lead to true freedom, the other to slavery. What we choose to do matters. Jesus gives us freedom but also directs us to live in a way that will enhance that freedom.
1 Corinthians 6:12 ‘“Everything is permissible for me”—but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible for me”—but I will not be mastered by anything.’
Don’t call my God demanding when He gives you the choice to act as you see fit. Don’t call Him controlling when He is simply suggesting a way to live that leads to true freedom. It’s your choice not Jesus’ demand.
