Imagine you are out for a coffee with a friend, chatting away and having a whale of a time, life is good. Then all of a sudden they turn away from you, presenting their back to you and not their face. What would you do? How would you feel? Imagine that the time came to pay and your friend finding they didn’t have enough money to pay, turns to you as though nothing had happened and asks you to make up the difference. How much longer would you still call that person a friend?

We spend the majority of our lives ignoring God. Our engagement with Him depending on our needs rather than His grace. we scarcely stop to imagine what it must be like for God who longs for us to turn and face Him.

Jeremiah 2:27b: They have turned their backs to me and not their faces; yet when they are in trouble, they say, “Come and save us!”

How do you spend your time when things are going well? With your face turned to God or your back?
