Trust in the Lord

Take delight in the Lord

Commit everything you do to the Lord

Be still in the presence of the Lord

Wait patiently

Don’t worry

Those who are gentle and lowly will possess the land

The words above are parts of verses from Psalm 37:3-11 (NLT) that I read this morning. Psalm 37 is attributed to David and contrasts the wicked person with the righteous, but out of the forty verses in Psalm 37 these are the words that jumped off the page at me. In a world where it is all too easy to focus on the evil that seems to abound we are reminded to trust and take delight in the Lord. To be still in His presence and not worry. I needed those words this morning.

“Blessed [spiritually prosperous, happy, to be admired] are the poor in spirit [those devoid of spiritual arrogance, those who regard themselves as insignificant], for theirs is the kingdom of heaven [both now and forever]. (Matthew 5:3 Amplified Bible)
